Members of the Sexy Six-Pack’s Sirens Facebook group had an opportunity to question the Trident Security teams, members of The Covenant, and their families and friends. The following is the resulting online Q&A session. Some answers may contain spoilers for books written before November 1, 2018.

Please say hello to the TS gang, their family, and their friends.

Rhonda B.: For any of the guys or gals… when did you realize you were a Dominant or a submissive?

Shelby: Back in college, I went to a munch with some friends, thinking it would be a fun girl’s night out. Honestly, I’d thought the lifestyle was something to laugh at before I went there. We thought we’d be seeing a bunch of half-naked people participating in role play like puppy play or something. But part of the event included a Dom and a sub giving a presentation. While they just talked and explained things, without any play, I found myself drawn more and more to their words. I sought them out after the presentation to ask them a bunch of questions I suddenly had. Of course, a lot of other people wanted to talk to them too, so I had to wait in a line, but they took the time to talk to each of us. When I finally introduced myself to the Dom, I felt a sense of peace come over me. He was one of those ideal Doms you read about in romance novels—no joke. He was caring about all subs, not just his own. He stressed safe, sane, and consensual, and explained the difference between a Dom you wanted to find vs. a wannabe-Dom who didn’t get it and was in the lifestyle for all the wrong reasons. Before the night was over, I was hooked. I just knew I had to give the lifestyle a try.

Jessica Z.: This is for any of the guys—who introduced you to the lifestyle?

Master Cain: I found the lifestyle completely by accident while on the job. As a Secret Service agent, I had to follow those I was protecting into some very strange places. At one point in my career, I was assigned to a high-ranking official’s daughter. She was, and still is, a member of Club X in the Georgetown area of Washington D.C. and went there often. Hence, I went there often as well. It didn’t take me long to get into the lifestyle after that, and, no, I never played while on a detail.

Leia M.: This is for anyone—how can someone tell their partner they want to learn how to be a submissive?

Fancy: I’ll take this question. If you’ve read about my background, then you know I’d dabbled in the lifestyle before I’d ever met Brody. But that was not the case with my first-husband, Patrick. I was the one to approach him about it after one of my girlfriends had told me about how she and her husband had been in the lifestyle for a year or two. It was scary at first—I wasn’t sure what he knew about BDSM or how he felt about it. I did a lot of research and enlisted our friends’ help. The husband started mentioning the lifestyle among the four of us and in one-on-one conversations with Patrick, so it wouldn’t be a foreign subject when I approached him about it. Then, one night, lying in bed, I brought it up, using our friends’ descriptions of the lifestyle as an ice breaker. I was happy to find he wasn’t as shocked as he could have been without being eased into it. Unfortunately, we’d only just started exploring the lifestyle before Patrick was killed. When Brody told me he was a Dom, I don’t know, it almost felt like Patrick had sent someone for me to love again—someone who was perfect for me.

Terra O.: Devon, do you think you and Carter connect more together than any of the others in Trident Security, since you have done scenes together with Kristen and some other subs?

Devon: I’m not the only Alpha Team member who’s had a ménage with Carter. Boomer has, too, and I think one or two of the other guys. Ian hasn’t.

Speaking for myself, though, I’d developed a close relationship with Carter over the years before we’d ever shared a woman. In our business, trust must be earned—lives depend upon it. I think we were able to take the trust that’s between us on missions and roll it over into something personal. Actually, those types of trust are both personal, but in different ways. Carter has earned my respect as a teammate, a Dom, and a friend over the years. If I had even a sliver of doubt that he would harm Kristen in any way, shape, or form, I would never have invited him to share my beautiful sub.

Kelle B: For Ian—what’s your fondest childhood memory and why?

Ian: My brothers and I had a great childhood. Dad didn’t start out rich—he earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. I think we turned out the way we have because of his work ethic. I admire my dad more than any other man on this earth. My fondest memories are when he took a day off from work now and then—he’d started as a real estate agent—and took my brothers and me out of school. He’d take us fishing, but it was never about the fish. It was about bonding with his sons. We had some of the best conversations while fishing—still do. When my kids are old enough, fishing will be something I’ll do with them as often as I can.

Janet H.: Chuck and Marie Sawyer, do you have a Dom/sub relationship?

Marie: No, we do not. We’ve always been on equal terms both in and out of the bedroom. But we’ve also learned each other has particular strengths, at times, and we can let them take the reins for a bit. When our sons first told us they were opening a club, you can imagine our surprise. But, like any good doctor, I did the research and shared it with Chuck. We began to understand why people got into the lifestyle and what they got out of it. We also understand and learned there are clubs like this all over the world, and many aren’t safe for the members. Ian, Devon, and Mitch stressed they wanted a safe haven for those who wanted to explore the lifestyle they’d come to be a part of. I’m proud of them, just don’t ask me to go into the club, lol. I prefer to keep some images of my sons and nephew out of my head.

Kelle B.: For Carter—my question is the same as the one I gave Ian. What is your fondest childhood memory and why?

Carter: As you probably know, I didn’t have a great childhood. But I’d have to say, my fondest memory is from a few days after I met my foster sister Vicki. I was a broody kid, as you can imagine. Being shuffled from foster home to foster home doesn’t give you many reasons not to be broody. Anyway, I was in the backyard hitting pebbles with a bat, since there wasn’t a ball, when Vicki came outside. She had a package of Twinkies with her—I don’t even remember where she got the money for them. She sat down, opened them, and offered me one. I was surprised and asked her why—I was so used to other kids being stingy with the things they had because most of us had so little. She said, “Because Twinkies make me smile, and you need a reason to smile.” I knew she would be special to me from that moment on.

Mary G.: Carter, what is your favorite food?

Carter: That goes with the last question—Twinkies.

Boomer: Yeah, “I’m just here for the Twinkies” doesn’t work for me. Glad you went with the standard line.
